Sound Healing Ceremony In the Heart of the City & 2 DIY Sound Healing Tools For A Peaceful Heart In the 20th Century Gong Baths may become more popular in the US than the Baths of Ancient Rome. What’s a Gong Bath, or Sound Healing Ceremony? Participants each lie down on a mat or blanket while sound healing practitioners play gongs, singing bowls and other instruments. People experience relief from stress and pain, energy balancing, clarity of mind, spontaneous healing and a peaceful meditative state.Sound has been part of human culture, healing and ritual since the beginning of Time. Or at least since the beginning of human culture. “If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.” ~ Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine at the Cornell Cancer Prevention Center in New York CityEach cell and organ in our body vibrates, and the pattern of vibration makes a song that can change moment to moment. When an organ experiences imbalance, that imbalance shows up in it’s vibration, or song. Through sound healing the vibrational frequencies, or songs of the body can be restored to their balanced and optimal state.Sound healing has helped me enter a state of deep awareness and mystery where anything is possible. Shamanic sound healing has helped me call myself home and retrieve lost parts of myself. It has called out to my deep cellular memory and ancient wisdom, waking up and uncovering parts of me that had been buried and long to shine. From a place beyond the veil my sisters have sung the song of my soul to me and helped me remember the essence of what I am, the mystery from which I come, and my purpose here on Earth.Want to experience the magic and deep peace of sound healing first hand? And Now, 2 DIY Sound Healing Tools for a Peaceful Heart! Both of these tools involve toning. To tone: Inhale a full breath. Let it out fully. Inhale a full breath again.Let out a continuous sound, or tone, for the entirety of the breath. It can be helpful to start with simple tones, such as “Ooooooh” or an “Om”.Gratitude ToningMaking time to be grateful makes people happier. To Gratitude Tone, think of something you are grateful for - anything, whether it’s the ground beneath your feet or the sun in the sky. Hold the image or thought of that thing in your awareness. Take a deep breath in and exhale the sound of your gratitude. Do this as many times as you like for as many things as you like.2. Restoration & Relaxation Toning: Find a comfortable position and place your hand anywhere on your body that is tired, stressed, tense, painful or depleted. Take a deep breath in and exhale a tone with the intention of nourishing or sending love to that place. Do this as many times as you like.May the song of your soul dance wildly, peacefully and passionately on this planet. May your cells rest deeply and relax into the song of creation that resonates from earth to starry sky and wraps you in a warm blanket woven of beauty, love and mystery.Leigh Seeleman, LMT/RMT is a priestess and shamanic healer with a passion for wilderness and co-creative ecstatic communion through sound and movement.
