An Ideal Therapy to Come Back to Yourself

Boost Immunity, reduce stress, relieve pain...Shiatsu: It Does A Body GoodI have been practicing Shiatsu for a few years now and am constantly amazed by the benefits and results I see in my clients from as little as one 60-minute session. The one problem that I run into with Shiatsu is that many people still don’t know what it is or how supportive it is for their body, mind and soul. Because of that I wanted to offer some information on Shiatsu and answer some questions that I commonly hear. What is Shiatsu?Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork or healing modality that incorporates treatment of the body’s meridians, acupressure points, aspects of traditional massage with Myofacial release (treating connective tissue) along with treating the organs and administering structural adjustments. Shiatsu also balances the mind and energetic bodies bringing full balance to the system. During a session, I assess which areas are the priority and treat accordingly. Why is it good for me?The body is constantly striving for homeostasis or balance. Disruptions in the balance may present as muscle tightness, structural misalignment, organ malfunction, or blockages in the meridian or chakra systems. Shiatsu brings movement and qi, life force energy, to the bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, organs, blood, cells, and meridians.Shiatsu is good for physical injuries, stress relief, can boost your immune system, can help with infertility issues, can help regulate your metabolism, organ malfunction, arthritis, joint pain, depression, anxiety and other forms of emotional distress but most importantly it's extremely relaxing and just feels great.Shiatsu can also treat the energetic body like the chakras. You can't treat any of these parts of a person without affecting all of the others. Can children receive shiatsu?Shiatsu is great for children; most will love it. Similar to the results in adults, Shiatsu can help children with sleep, breathing, digestion, emotional and mental clarity and help with stress.Do I have to get naked?Unlike most traditional massages, there is no need to strip down to your skivvies. There is usually a significant amount of moving and stretching during a session so I ask my clients to wear loose fitting comfortable clothing and socks. What else can I expect from a Shiatsu Massage?I often integrate Reiki with my Shiatsu sessions. Reiki benefits and balances a person's entire system where Shiatsu can be a bit more acute. I find that they work nicely together. How can Shiatsu help my daily workout or training?Sometimes working out or training for a physical event can put a strain on our body. Shiatsu can help relieve some of that tension, help with muscle fatigue and balance. It can also help with athletic performance by joining the mind and body providing optimal focus.Do I need a full 60-minute treatment?Although a 60 to 75-minute treatment is ideal, any amount of Shiatsu is beneficial. How and where can I get a Shiatsu Massage?Book a massage with me at your convenience.
