Can I set up a time to talk with Kim about my work?

Kim loves to talk about small business incubation and hear all of the stories of all of the fabulous practitioners and teachers of all the amazing health and wellness modalities! She also loves to meet new people and network! At the same time, she is incredibly busy bringing her special gifts to the world, so she can’t accommodate all of the one-on-one opportunities to network. Look out for Healer’s Jams on our upcoming events page- they’re one of Kim’s favorite ways to meet new people. If you’d like Kim to help you with your business, contact her to set up a fee-based private consultation. Thanks!

I am a Reiki teacher/practitioner and I have a questions about Reiki practice and/or Reiki classes- can you answer them for me over email?

We are so happy that you are sharing your Reiki practice with the world! We love to share our practice too. Due to time and energy constraints & the number of emails we receive, we are unable to provide individual answers and guidance by email. Instead, we try to answer questions in our blog posts, newsletters, or videos, so we can share them easily with the most people. If you’d like us to answer your question, please, send it using the contact form above. We will do our best to address your questions in an upcoming blog, newsletter or video post!
We also offer one-on-one consultations in person or via skype or phone, for a fee if you want special, individualized help.

Do you mind if I reference your work on my blog or website, or in my class or marketing materials?

As long as you credit us for our work/words, it’s okay. Use a link to our website, http://www.thereikischool.com, and be sure to reference our name correctly. We are, The Reiki School + Clinic. If any of our work is overtly attributed to a specific author, like our school’s founder, Kimberly Fleisher, than credit them too.

I’ve taken Reiki before, somewhere else, and I’m not comfortable practicing Reiki. What can I do?

There are many options, and they differ depending on each person. We recommend coming in for a consultation, so we can hear your personal Reiki story. It may be best for you to simply recommit to self practice. It may be wise to come to Reiki Shares to gain confidence and practice, or it may be better to re-take a Reiki class at our school. Again, it depends on the individual.

When are student practice clinics this semester? How do I volunteer for free student Reiki sessions?

Contact us with a request to add yourself to our email list; we’ll send you dates of the free clinics in our newsletter when they are released (We have free clinics every 4 months).

If you are receiving Reiki please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing (you won’t take them off). If you are receiving a massage or massage/Reiki combo you can undress to your level of comfort.
We ask that you take your shoes off at the door. There is a shoe holder for your convenience. If you don’t want to remove your shoes for any reason, just let us know and we’ll work something out. You are welcome to bring indoor slippers too.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Many of our students/grads also have distance Reiki treatment lists, where they offer brief treatments to many people as a courtesy. If you’d like someone included on their lists, please let us know and we’ll forward the info.
Again, please make sure to have permission of anyone other than yourself.

What’s the deal with parking at your spot, and where are you, exactly?

Philly location: 727 S 4th, 2nd floor (note, we are no longer at 525 S 4th)
We are located on 4th Street near Bainbridge, on the east side of the street, a few doors
down past Essene Market and Café, above BusStop Boutique (shoe store).

Street parking is often available, but be sure to read the signs and follow the instructions carefully regarding times and meters. The parking authority are very good at their job.

We also offer discounted parking validation* at Park America, on 215 Lombard Street.
There is also very cheap parking (no special discount needed) at EZ Park on Bainbridge between 4th and 5th.

NJ Location: 688 Haddon Avenue, Collingswood
Street (metered) parking is available. Enter through the back door and come up to the second floor.
Go to the end of the hallway; your practitioner will be waiting for you.

Should I tip my practitioner after a session?

The general rule of thumb is that tips are definitely not expected, but they’re lovingly accepted. We do not work like a spa, where practitioners make most of their income from gratuities. From a payment perspective, we function more like therapists or doctors who wouldn’t expect a tip. At the same time, if you feel you really want to give your practitioner a gratuity, they will not be offended; they’ll gladly accept it.

What are your client lateness, cancellation and no show policies?

Appointment Cancellation and No Show Policy
We have a 24 hr cancellation policy. Give us 24 hrs notice if you have to change, cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you cancel within 24 hrs or do not show up for your scheduled appointment you will still be expected to pay the appointment fee, on or before your next visit.
Lateness Policy
Arrive at your appointment on time. If you are late, your session will be shorter. If you are more than 15 minutes late know that we may not be able to accommodate you. If we cannot accommodate you, it will be considered a missed appointment and you will be expected to pay for your session.
Practitioner and Client Rights
Reiki, Massage and other bodywork sessions are given for the purpose of stress reduction and relaxation. Said sessions are not substitutes for medical or psychological diagnosis or treatment. Reiki, massage and bodywork practitioners do not diagnose conditions, prescribe, perform medical treatment, or interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. It is recommended that a client see a licensed physician, or licensed health care professional for any physical or psychological ailment they may have.
If a client is uncomfortable in any way during a massage, reiki or bodywork session, they have the right to question their practitioner and/or request that the session be terminated. Any illicit or sexually suggestive remarks or advances made by the client will result in immediate termination of the session.

How do I make an appt?

Call the office or fill out this appt request form to give us the info we need to match you with the best practitioner.

Do I need to read or prepare before I take a class?

No. You just need to have an open mind. We think it’s best not to read, and therefore let go of expectations or preconceived ideas before you begin.

After I take a course at your school, will I be certified to practice Reiki professionally?

Reiki was created as a practice to do with friends and family. After Reiki Level I you will have a certificate that allows you to practice, or integrate Reiki into an existing practice (like massage or nursing. It does not mean you will feel ready or prepared call yourself a Reiki professional. The beginning levels of training provide a foundation in the practice. If you wish to practice professionally, you will want to develop other professional skills needed to open a business and work with the general public and/or specialized populations. Many of these skills are focused on in Reiki 3.
Also, be mindful that certification does not give you a business license or insurance. You may be required to have these things to practice professionally and legally in your city or state.

I took Reiki classes with another teacher/school. Can I study the next level of Reiki with you?

It depends. Styles and schools of Reiki vary greatly from teacher to teacher, and often, students coming from other schools of training feel lost in our advanced classes. Contact our school’s director, Kim, so she learn about your Reiki training and help advise you on the best course of action.

Why are your Reiki classes so long?

The Reiki School and Clinic was founded by educators. Kim, our school’s director, has a master’s in education and is a former elementary and preschool teacher. George, our school’s co-founder, taught, directed and created curriculum for preschool for nearly 20 years before he passed away. Kim always says, “If I can teach a first-grader math I can teach anyone anything.” We took a fresh look at Reiki education and created a new way of training that’s more in line with how people learn. Take a look at the following educational principles that drive our practice and support our longer style of training:
Practice: In order to learn we need to do, and do again. In fact, the best questions and answers come from hands-on experience with the subject matter. You can’t even think of good questions about practice when you haven’t practiced. The two-day workshop model without follow-up doesn’t support this. We built extra practice/integration time right into our training, so you don’t have to seek it out on your own.
Patience/Process: Learning takes time, Rome wasn’t built in a day. It’s easy to integrate any new tool if the information is given slowly, with time to digest it, process it, ask questions and practice.
People: We learn from each-other. Our peers ask questions that are on our minds, they show us examples of what to do/what not to do, they listen to us, and provide mirrors for our growth. Our teachers give us ongoing support, direction, and guidance. With our teachers and peers we create an understanding community of learners — especially when we may be learning something that others in our lives may not accept or understand.

What are your class lateness, absence, makeup policies?

The first five classes for Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 are mandatory, as well as the first class of Reiki 3. If you miss one of these classes, you are required to do a make-up. Three or more absences in any given course will result in non-completion of the course and no certificate will be awarded. Students are responsible for making up any material or assignments missed. Students can make-up a class by participating in the equivalent class of another course, if it is available, at no additional cost. If an equivalent class is not available, students can arrange for a private make-up with your teacher. The cost of a private make-up is $80 per session. As a courtesy to the class, please call or email if you will be absent or late. Three lateness’s of ten minutes or more count as an official absence.

How do I sign up for a workshop or event?

All of the workshops and events we offer have an RSVP or Registration link. If it’s an event hosted by the school, but not provided by us, there will typically be a link to the facilitator’s contact/registration info.

Do you offer scholarships, payment plans, referral credits, or work study for Reiki classes?

Scholarships:
We save 2 spaces in each Reiki Level I, 2 and 3 course for partial scholarship recipients.
The scholarships are first-come, first-serve; We trust if you’re asking for a scholarship, you really need one. We suggest that you register as soon as possible to ensure a scholarship space. We offer $100 towards the cost of a Reiki 1 or 2 training, and $200 towards the cost of Reiki Level 3.
Payment Plans:
We always offer payment plans for our classes. When you register you’ll pay an initial deposit, and the balance of your tuition will be spilt over the remaining months of class. You can choose to pay on either the 1st of 15th of each calendar month, and you’ll finishing paying by the end of class.
Earning Referral Credits toward classes:
